The OLLI International Affairs Discussion Group will meet on Wednesday, Jan 8, 3 p.m., at Stauffer’s Café & Pie Shoppe, 5600 South 48th. Peter Levitov will catch everyone up on international news over the past month and then will talk about and lead a discussion on refugees and asylees.

- What are the internationally accepted criteria for becoming a refugee or an asylee?
- In a perfect world might other groups of oppressed people be eligible for refugee or asylum status?
- How many individuals are granted such status worldwide (and by the U.S.) every year?
- Where do the largest numbers of refugees and asylees presently reside?
- From what countries have they come?
- What are the trends in applications and grants for refugees and asylees?
