The creation myth of the internet in common culture is as follows: one day, Vint Cerf created TCP-IP and the internet was born. However, Vint himself disavows this fable, as the internet we know and love was built on the collective, collaborative effort of some of the brightest minds in science. Many of the wonders and challenges of the modern web have deep roots that are not well known. In this talk, we will explore the evolution of the internet and shed a light on the forgotten chapters at the heart of the information age.
