Join us for a discussion on U.S. Constitutionalism and Native American Sovereignty with Ned Blackhawk (Yale University) and Maggie Blackhawk (New York University).
Ned Blackhawk will discuss his recent book The Rediscovery of America: Native Peoples and the Unmaking of U.S. History, which argues for the centrality of Native people and their nations throughout American history from the colonial era to the present. Maggie Blackhawk will discuss the influence of her work on Supreme Court cases including Brackeen and McGirt as well as her scholarship on the centrality of Federal Indian Law in Constitutional Law, which is both a curricular and conceptual concern. Together, they will discuss the NYU-Yale American Indian Sovereignty Project, a hub that supports initiatives pertaining to tribal sovereignty and federal Indian law in the United States.
Katrina Jagodinsky of UNL’s Digital Legal Research Lab will moderate the discussion and invite questions from the audience, including our students. You can register for the webinar at go.unl.edu/lawandracewebinar.
