Some scholars are highly productive. They break new ground and do it again and again. Their names and ideas are ubiquitous in scientific journals and scholarly books. They scoff at publish or perish. To them, it’s publish and flourish. But how are they so productive? This five-part webinar series reveals what the experts do, the insider information your doctoral advisor and senior colleagues never told you or might not even know. Be a More Productive Scholar divulges how top scholars are so productive and how you can be too, if you know how.
Each one-hour webinar, hosted free by Lumivero and presented live and recorded, offers important guidance for scholarly success.

Session Description: Productive scholars make writing a daily habit. Some aim for five pages a day, others an hour or two or even a single paragraph. Their writing rarely starts at the beginning, instead launching with tables and graphics, then methods and results, and finally the introduction and discussion. As they write, they suspend judgment about writing form and mechanics and let the words flow. Later they edit and revise to perfection. They don’t write for other scholars; they write for a common audience, always telling clear, coherent, and memorable stories – easily understood and appreciated by readers outside the area. They use time-honored writing conventions like topic sentences, signals, and transitions to lead the reader comfortably through the story. They don’t confuse readers with jargon and acronyms. They welcome feedback for improvement, which might come from writing group members.
