COLLEGE OF ARCHITECTURE UNVEILS THE 2019/2020 HYDE SERIES LECTURER LINE-UP

The College of Architecture is pleased to announce the Hyde Lecture Series opens another exciting chapter for the design and planning disciplines. The 2019/2020 series, “OUR WORK / YOUR WORK - Designing and Planning for Political Engagement”, invites national and international speakers to campus from across disciplines who will lend their unique perspective to our rigorous inquiry and pursuit of academic excellence.
“OUR WORK / YOUR WORK – Designing and Planning for Political Engagement” is a lecture series that explores designing and planning as a product of political debate.
After many years of silence, designers and planners are engaging in politics and social action. With shifts in globalized markets, environmental extremes and changing demographics of labor resources come new challenges to meritocracy and the quest for a healthy work environment. Our work affects the work of others. Standards within the profession are reflected in the working conditions of those who build, plan and inhabit these environments.
This lecture series explores and seeks discourse on the consequences of our practice upon the built environment for generations to come.
The college’s Hyde Lecture Series is a long-standing, endowed public program. Each year the college hosts compelling speakers in the fields of architecture, interior design, landscape architecture and planning that enrich the ongoing dialog around agendas which are paramount to the design disciplines and College of Architecture graduates.
