The 19th Amendment is almost 100 years old. To celebrate, artist Marilyn Artus of Oklahoma City is constructing an 18x26’ flag with 36 stripes to represent each of the 36 states that took part in the ratification of the 19th Amendment. She’s coming to Lincoln, Nebraska, to collaborate with artist Cindy Chinn to sew her stripe for Nebraska on the flag. Our performing artist is Nebraska singer-songwriter Wendy Jane Bantam.
Passed by Congress June 4, 1919, and ratified on August 18, 1920, the 19th Amendment kicked open the door for women to make their voices heard. We hope you’ll join us for this non-partisan event.
