Every interview you get indicates that the hiring committee is impressed by your application materials and thinks you might be a good fit for their needs. The purpose of an interview, then, is for the department to find out whether you’d be a good fit for them, and for you to find out whether the position is a good fit for you (Gibson, 1992). Understanding the candidate selection process from an interviewer’s perspective increases your chances of being hired.
In this “behind the scenes” panel presentation and question and answer session, you’ll hear about what search committees look for during the application and job interview processes, the kind of questions asked, and what qualities make a candidate stand out.
Seats are limited. Register now at go.unl.edu/173C.
