Rural substance use continues to be an issue of concern in the U.S., affecting individuals, legal policy, and institutions. This Conversation Series, hosted by the Minority Health Disparities Initiative, invites NU faculty and staff, community members and stakeholders from Lincoln and the surrounding are to a) discuss behavioral risk factors specific to rural areas, b) changes in trends of substance use and the state of access to substances our region, and c) policy and legal aspects of substance use in Nebraska. Dr. Kirk Dombrowksi and Dr. Patrick Habecker will open with a brief overview of the state of rural substance use in the Nebraska and the region before inviting a focused discussion on the current and future challenges faced by the state and local communities revolving around substance use.
