Did you know that effective communication is one of the most sought after skills in the workplace? Did you know that 75 percent of people suffer from Glossophobia: the fear of public speaking? Are you one of the 75 percent? Let us help you conquer that fear!

The 4-H Public Speaking Contest helps youth develop skills for communicating about current issues to real audiences, learn how to organize and prepare a speech, develop speech delivery skills, learn how to present themselves to others, and develop self-confidence.

Whether you are interested in competing in the 4-H Public Speaking Contest, or you want to improve on your public speaking skills for your club or the classroom, consider attending the 4-H Public Speaking Contest Workshop at the Cass County Extension Office on Thursday, March 19th from 6:30 – 7:30.

The workshop content is recommended for junior and intermediate 4-Hers ages 8-14. However, if you are a senior level 4-Her and you are interested in attending a speaking contest workshop, please call the office and let us know! We are happy to host a workshop for all levels if there is enough interest.

Workshop participants will learn how to prepare and deliver a speech in a safe, welcoming environment! Call the Extension Office at 402-267-2205 or email lstohlmann2@unl.edu to register. The cost to register for the workshop is $5.
