Human trafficking is probably not something that comes top of mind when thinking about a career in Hospitality, Restaurant and Tourism Management (HRTM), but students in the HRTM program in Nutrition and Health Sciences will be learning why it should be. Retired FBI special agent Anna Brewer will speak to students at noon Feb. 7 in Room 31 of the Home Economics Building on East Campus. Space is limited. If you are interested in attending, contact Shannon Rowen.

The links between human trafficking and major events are complex with increased demand for exploitation around large sporting events and concerts. Understanding how to recognize this crime is important for students to learn, as they head into careers managing and leading hospitality organizations. Human trafficking is the second fastest-growing criminal enterprise in the U.S., exceeded only by the illegal drug trade.
