Hundreds of head of livestock are transported by commercial vehicle across Nebraska for the purposes of breeding, feeding and slaughter. Nearly all of these livestock are transported via truck and semitrailer.
The objectives of the Livestock Emergency Response Plan aim to develop a framework local law enforcement, first responders and emergency management could use to more appropriately address accidents involving livestock transport vehicles. This plan aims to be rigid enough to cover all of the critically needed areas but flexible enough to fit the needs of local jurisdictions.
