Doug Casebeer will lead a ceramics discussion at 5:30 p.m. Jan. 24 in Richards Hall, Room 15.

The talk, which is free and open to the public, is sponsored by the School of Art, Art History & Design and the University of Nebraska Clay Club.

Doug Casebeer is Associate Director and Chair of the Artist in Residence Program at the Anderson Ranch Arts Center in Aspen, Colorado; where he also serves as Artist Director of Ceramics. He received his MFA in ceramics from Alfred University and his BFA from Wichita State University. His service to the field includes outreach in rural Jamaican schools, technical support and assistance for Nepali potters, and serving as pottery consultant to the United Nations and the German government. His artwork is included in a permanent installation at the Yingge Museum of Ceramics in Taiwan. In 2009 he was elected to the International Academy of Ceramics in Geneva, Switzerland and was a featured artist at the Chinese Academy of Fine Art in Beijing.

The Hixson-Lied Visiting Artist & Scholar Lecture Series is underwritten by the Hixson-Lied Endowment, with additional support from other sources. The program brings notable artists, scholars and designers to the University of Nebraska; enhancing the education of our students and enriching the culture of the state by providing a way for the public to interact with luminaries in the fields of art, art history and design.
