Lew Hunter is a Nebraska screenwriter, author and educator. Lew is a Wesleyan alum and currently lives in Superior, NE. He is the former chairman emeritus and professor of screenwriting for the UCLA Department of Film and Television. He helped develop their screenwriting program as well as the Paris Conservatory Program. Lew’s book, Screenwriting 434, is widely considered to be the bible of the screenwriting world. Lew has worked extensively in television, writing and TV movies such as “The Sound of Love” and “The Yellow Rose.” Lew also helped found the American Screenwriters Association and was inducted into the Hall of Fame. He was also nominated for an Emmy for his movie “Fallen Angel.”

Over half of all Academy Award-winning scripts in the past twenty years were written by Lew’s students. Some of his students include: Alexander Payne (Nebraska), John Bokencamp (The Blacklist), David Koepp (Jurassic Park, Mission Impossible), and Don Mancini (Child’s Play). Steven Spielberg has said that Lew is, “the best screenwriting teacher going.”
