Dr. Laura Young will guide academic experts in conducting a comprehensive communication risk assessment for their research endeavors. The goal is to empower them to effectively engage with the media and other stakeholders, even in cases where their work may be perceived as controversial in certain media narratives.
This interactive workshop will help participants identify their own ‘loopholes’ to prepare them to speak confidently about what they do in an effort to bridge the science communication gap between research and the public. While science is one focal point, those individuals in the humanities will also benefit from learning how to navigate communication risk assessments and building communicative bridges between academia and popular audiences. Attendees should come with their research agenda top of mind to get the most out of the experience. The workshop is open to post-docs, graduate and professional students, and staff and faculty. It will be hosted on Zoom, but it will not be recorded.
