“Proteolytic control of the mitochondrial intermembrane space” will be presented by Steven E. Glynn, assistant professor, Department of Biochemistry and Cell Biology, Stony Brook University.

Dr. Glynn’s lab uses biochemical and structural biology approaches to understand how energy-dependent proteases control essential mitochondrial functions. He completed his Ph.D. in X-ray crystallography at the University of Sheffield, U.K. before joining Prof. Bob Sauer’s lab at M.I.T. Dr. Glynn’s post-doctoral work focused on visualizing how ATP-driven AAA+ proteases unfold and degrade stable protein substrates. He joined the faculty at Stony Brook University in 2012 where his work focuses on the mechanisms of AAA+ proteases in mitochondria.
