The Student Innocence Project (SIP) works to raise awareness in the student body and the public about the problem of wrongful convictions, as well as support reforms in the criminal justice system that will help prevent the conviction of innocent people in the future. In addition to hosting events at the law school, our members are given the opportunity to attend monthly meetings with the Nebraska Innocence Project. At these meetings, student members have the opportunity to review cases of individuals imprisoned in Nebraska who are seeking to prove their wrongful conviction. 2Ls and 3Ls are eligible to receive pro bono hours for this service. Lunch will be provided. Additionally, we will be having “Innocence Project Trivia” with fun prizes.
