As the great Anthony Bourdain once asked, “Do we really want to travel in hermetically sealed popemobiles through the rural provinces of France, Mexico and the Far East, eating only in Hard Rock Cafes and McDonalds? Or do we want to eat without fear, tearing into the local stew, the humble taqueria’s mystery meat, the sincerely offered gift of a lightly grilled fish head?”
Like this culinary wizard, we at ILSA believe that cultural gaps can be crossed and bridges can be built by sitting down at a table with someone not like you, and tearing into a bowl of strange, unfamiliar, but utterly delicious food. That is why we are happy to host our second annual International Food Fest!
We encourage any and all of you to celebrate your culture, your history, and your heritage, and whip up a dish that represents who you are, where you come from, and share it with the rest of your law school colleagues. Then, over the noon hour, we will all come together and get a taste of what each of you can bring to the table.
A shiny prize of my choosing (likely a trophy, but we’ll see) will be awarded to the dish that receives the most votes. i will also compile all of the submitted recipes into a cookbook so you can recreate your favorite dishes at home. So, please, if you want your recipe included in the cookbook, email me with the title, the recipe, and an optional photo of your dish NO LATER THAN Monday, April 10th.
