In his presentation, Prof. Perlman will discuss the legal challenge of controlling the collection and use of personally identifiable data. Then, he will briefly describe some of the ways our data is currently being collected and used and the current legal landscape of regulation. Finally, he will speculate on the prospects for further personal control of our data and protection of our privacy.

S.T.I.R. stands for Share, Think, Inspire, Relax and were created in order for students to learn more about what the College’s professors are researching but also a time to enjoy snacks, a drink, and relax. The professor has 15 minutes to present their topic, after which students and faculty are encouraged to discuss the topic.
