Join the Space, Cyber, and Telecom Law Program and the WiNS grant initiative for a conversation with Beth Barns on her career, how lawyers are critical to NatSec, and career skills (lunch provided, room109).

Beth Barns had a 32 year career with the CIA, from 1986-2018. During her career, she served in a variety of analytic, management, and staff officer positions that afforded her the opportunity to experience the breadth and depth of the intelligence profession. The majority of her analytic assignments were on Latin America and the Caribbean, although she also applied her analytic skills to North Korea’s military and Afghanistan’s narcotics trafficking. She also served as the PDB Briefer to DHS Secretary Napolitano from 2011-2012. The bulk of her graduate work (MA from Texas A&M University, 1985) was on Latin America history and US relations with Latin America, and she has a Bachelor in Education from Abilene Christian University (1983) with a teaching certification in US History and Spanish.
She was awarded the Career Intelligence Medal at her retirement on 8 January, 2019.
