This panel focuses on the standards applied to space operators and launching states in regards to harmful contamination of the space environment, how COSPAR standards can be updated to move from a pure scientific and probe environment to one with commercial activities and human space activities, how the Planetary Protection Independent Review Board (PPIRB) report played an important role in beginning this process of updating, and how commercial actors are and will be involved in the process.
