Prof. Paxton’s talk entitled Babies, Best Interest, and Bias: Advocating for those without a Voice talks about representing clients with diminished capacities creates unique challenges when one’s duty is to assess their best interests and explores how acknowledging one’s own biases and how they impact perspectives and analyses is necessary for effective advocacy, especially when a client has limited or no ability to communicate.
