According to the Wisconsin Historical Society (WHS), Lyman Copeland Draper made it “his life’s work to rescue from oblivion the history of the ‘heroes of the Revolution’ in the South.” His collection, which was bequeathed to the WHS, covers the time period from the French and Indian War to the War of 1812 and the geographic region of the “Trans-Allegheny West,” which includes Virginia, the entire Ohio valley, western Carolinas, and parts of Georgia, Alabama, and the Mississippi River valley. The UNL Libraries have this collection on microfilm and it is of particular interest to genealogists because of the military records and pension application forms for the Revolutionary War.

At Genealogy over Lunch, we will explore the specific materials within the Draper Manuscript Collection. All faculty, staff, and students are invited to join in the discussion. You are welcome to bring your lunch.
