Calling all Gamers! Get ready to gear up for the biggest battle of retro gaming. For one week Love Library will be celebrating Retro Gaming: Love Data Week with an interactive and educational exhibit. Students will be able to use laptops set up in the library link to play old games from LSD: Dream Emulator to Dr. Mario and more! The fun doesn’t stop there- each day from 1-2pm, students will be able to take turns facing off against a pro library staff member. Feeling up to the challenge? With new games to explore and exciting new competitions each day- you aren’t going to want to miss this!
Along with playing games all week, pop by at one of our educational talks! Two talks will be given throughout the week educating on the importance of preserving gaming software. The first talk will be on Tuesday at 2 pm in the Link. “Game Software Preservation, Emulation, and Copyright,” will discuss the history and challenges that go into preserving this software. The second talk, “Game Cartridge Backup Demonstration,” will be held on Thursday, at 2 pm in the Link. This will be a demonstration on backing up your games and files to specialty hardware. Both talks support preserving retro gaming and recognize the importance these games hold in our technology’s history.
