Title: Operator Algebras created from dynamical systems
Additional Public Info:
Abstract: Operator algebras created from dynamical systems have a long history, almost as old as the theory of operator algebras itself. We use this as a gateway into the theory. In this talk we will discuss introduce the audience to some key ideas in the theory of nonselfadjoint operator algebras, and then apply them to study a class of operator algebras created from a dynamical system. We will then discuss what properties of a dynamical system we can see from its corresponding operator algebra and vice versa. The new results in this talk come from joint work with Davidson and Kakariadis.
Refreshments will be served in 348 Avery 3:30-4:00 pm.
The talk is free and open to the public.
