FLUTE DAY 2012 will take place all day on Saturday, March 10 in Kimball Recital Hall.

And the Guest Artist Recital at 7:30 pm!

Flute Day is here again! This year we have a special guest, Eva Amsler, Professor of Flute at the Florida State University. She will be giving an afternoon masterclass with UNL flutists performing. High school and college flutists from other schools will perform for Dr. Bailey in the morning masterclasses. Requests to play in the masterclasses will be honored as received, with preference given to 11th and 12th graders and visiting college flutists. Younger flutists will be selected as space permits. Those selected to play in the masterclasses will be contacted.

Guest Clinician — Eva Amsler
Eva Amsler is Professor of Flute at Florida State University and previously served on the faculty of the Vorarlberg State Conservatory of Music in Feldkirch, Austria, from 1982 to 2002, teaching flute, pedagogy, and chamber music. In addition, she was a member of the St. Gallen Symphony Orchestra (Switzerland) from 1979 to 1999.

As a pioneer on the wooden flute, she organizes worldwide series of concerts with The Dorian Consort. She plays various flutes in specially created concerts of new music with the ensemble ENIF - aktuelle Music. Her concert activity as soloist and chamber musician has brought her together with performers such as Alberto Almarza, Linda Mark, Aurèle Nicolet, Barbara Schlick, Shalev Ad-El and the Carmina Quartet. She has appeared at concert venues around the world including Carnegie Hall in New York City and The Phillips Collection in Washington, D.C. Professor Amsler regularly holds master classes in Europe, the United States, South America, and Asia.

Ms. Amsler’s CD recordings have been released on the ‘ambitus’ and Cavalli labels and her performances have been broadcast in Europe, the United States, South America, and Asia. She serves on the board of the Florida Flute Association, is a member of the NFA Advisory, New Music, Archives and Oral History, Career and Artistic development Committees and is Chair of the Myrna Brown Society. She has hosted Flute Festivals at Florida State University, including “Different Generations,” “Flute - Health and Healing from the Americas,” “Baroque Day” and more.
