The Moran Woodwind Quintet performs three works for quintet on Nov. 17. The program starts with Mozart’s famous Serenade in C Minor, K. 388, arranged from the octet version for woodwind quintet by Israeli bassoonist Mordechai Rechtman. Also on the program are two original works for quintet: Cuban jazz great Paquito D’Rivera’s Aires Tropicales (with movements drawing on South American and Cuban dance, African rhythms, and American jazz), and Baylor University composer Scott McAllister’s With Growing Wind and Tide, which features extreme contrasts in texture, color, and tempo.
