UNL’s Glenn Korff School of Music is proud to present the 12th annual Celebration of American Song. This year, we celebrate the female composers and lyricists, who have contributed songs to the great American Songbook over the last century. You may not know their names or recognize their faces, but we are sure you will recognize their music! The first half of the show celebrates the pioneers, who wrote music in the early twentieth century, and the second half celebrates women, who are writing music today. These women’s lives and careers are as inspiring and as their music is enchanting! Alisa Belflower returns as your host sharing the stories of the women and their music. The celebration features performances by UNL’s voice faculty, alums and current students with Kurt Knecht at the piano. Come out to enjoy the delightful music ranging from the jazz standard “Willow weep for me” to the children’s favorite “Whose afraid of the big bad wolf” to moving Broadway showstoppers, including “Make them hear you” from Ragtime. This is an evening not to be missed with tickets only available at the door. Open seating. Seniors and students $3 and adults $5. One night only!
