Gabriela Lena Frank, Canciones Populares for string quartet; Gabriela Lena Frank, Bartok piano transcriptions for string quartet (world premiere); Schubert’s Cello Quintet in C Major D. 956 (featuring the winner of the Play with the Chiaras competition, cellist Korynne Bolt)
This evening features the premiere of new arrangements of some of Bartok’s piano works, arranged for string quartet by Gabriela Lena Frank. Ms. Frank was influenced in her own writing by Bartok’s approach to using folk materials as a rich source of inspiration, on full display in her colorful Canciones Populares. The Chiara Quartet will also perform alongside the winner of the 2016 Play with the Chiaras Audition, for an exciting ending to this 10th Anniversary Season!
