Formed out of friendship, the Amicitia Duo brings music for clarinet to a wide variety of audiences featuring clarinetists Diane Barger (UNL’s Hixson-Lied Professor of Clarinet) and Denise Gainey (University of Alabama at Birmingham’s Associate Professor of Clarinet). Amicitia is the Latin word for friendship and is pronounced “ah-mee-KEE-tee-ah”. With a friendship that spans over thirty years, Barger and Gainey combine their love of music and teaching to delight audiences around the world. With UNL pianist Dr. Mark Clinton, the Amicitia Duo’s recital will feature music from the Classical era (Franz Krommer’s Concerto in B-flat Major, op. 35) through the Romantic period (Felix Mendelssohn’s Concert Piece No. 2 in D minor, op. 114 and Amilcare Ponchielli’s Paolo e Virginia) and beyond with music by Mauricia Murcia Bedoya, Michael Kibbe, and Gary Schocker.
