Join us for the ultimate First Friday of 2016, collaboratively presented by Sheldon and our friends from the University of Nebraska’s Glenn Korff School of Music. Enjoy art and music in one spectacular venue, with compelling exhibitions in the galleries and a capella performances by the Chamber Singers in Sheldon’s Great Hall.

On Friday, December 2 at 5:30 p.m. in the Sheldon Art Gallery, the Chamber Singers will present a myriad of a cappella works that have been chosen to exploit the extraordinary acoustics of the Gallery. Echo songs- even double-echo songs- will be featured, and singers will be heard from all corners and balconies of that unusual space. Seasonal motets and carols will of course be featured, also a Renaissance Hebrew motet, mystical songs by Benjamin Britten, French and Latin excepts from incidental music by Bernstein to a play, and a Deck The Hall finale that will produce a huge giggle! Visiting Professor William Hatcher will conduct.

The Chamber Singers are UNL’s premiere vocal chamber ensemble. A small choir of 24-28 voices, it is intended to provide the highest level of choral chamber performance experience for graduate and undergraduate singers at the Glenn Korff School of Music and throughout the University of Nebraska–Lincoln.
