The UNL Percussion Studio presents a night of global percussion music including folkloric Afro-Cuban Percussion and Brazilian Samba Batucada led by guest artist Mike Mixtacki. Mixtacki will perform several solo pieces as well, then the evening will conclude with Nebraska Steel and Steel2, UNL’s new steel drum ensembles. Nebraska Steel will be performing classic tour de force soca compositions “Pan in A Minor” by Lord Kitchner and “Sea of Stories” by Andy Narell, and will also be premiering “Loosen gravity’s grip” by MM percussionist Louis Raymond-Kolker. The Percussion Ensemble is made up of students from the percussion studio, under the direction of Dave Hall.
