The Right Start in Teaching Economics program is designed to support teachers, especially those who are new to teaching, or just new economics educators, in becoming more knowledgeable and effective in their classrooms. Veteran teachers will also appreciate the opportunity to obtain new methods and activities and to network with peers. This four-day residential program combines lectures, discussions, case studies, and simulations to help participants feel confident and excited to teach economics.
A $200 deposit is required at registration. Upon completion of the program, Nebraska grades 6-12 teachers will receive an $800 stipend.
Nebraska teachers who live more than 30 miles from downtown Lincoln are eligible to stay in all the conference hotel, The Graduate in the Haymarket. Single occupancy rooms are provided gratis for all three nights, Tuesday through Thursday.
Lunch is provided on both full days (Wednesday and Thursday)
NCEE has partnered with the Foundation for Teaching Economics to offer this Right Start program.
