Abstract
Intellectual property (IP) is a critical component of the technology commercialization process. It is widely utilized in industry, national laboratories, and universities to protect the creative contributions of scientists and engineers. NUtech Ventures, the technology transfer office of UNL, works with university researchers to protect and commercialize research innovations. This presentation will describe how IP is utilized at UNL in the commercialization process and how faculty, students, and staff can become more involved in this process. The presentation will also provide basic information on the different types of intellectual property – patents, copyrights, trademarks, and trade secrets.
