Females with ASD are under-identified. The diagnostic criteria currently in use were created based on male case studies. ASD often presents differently in females than in males. Many believe that as identification of females improves, the ratio of girls to boys with ASD will change significantly. It is important to be able to recognize the characteristics of ASD in females and to serve their specific needs. The training will focus on strategies that are helpful in the school setting to improve identification of females. School interventions designed to address the needs of girls with ASD will be discussed.
