Dr. Denton will describe the Student-Focused Coaching model (Hasbrouck & Denton, 2005; 2009) and how it differs from traditional models of instructional coaching. Then she will describe how Student-Focused Coaching was implemented in a program of research investigating the effectiveness of two intensive first grade reading interventions across multiple schools in rural, suburban, and urban locations, including a randomized study of instructional coaching delivered through traditional on-site and technology-supported approaches. The use of technology coaching with urban schools will be discussed.
