• The Visual Arts of Ragamala’s Sacred Earth – Lied Center, Johnny Carson Theater, Thursday, September 29, 4:30-8:00pm.
This workshop provides opportunities to learn more about the visual arts of India including wall paintings crafted by the indigenous Warli people of Western India, illustrating their natural way of life. From Southern India come floor designs, Kolams, drawn with rice flour to create sacred space every morning. These art forms are represented in Ragamala’s performance of Sacred Earth that includes large-scale original Warli art and a stage that is hand-drawn with Kolams. Workshop participants receive curriculum and resource materials on the arts/culture of India, and hands-on experience in creating art from India.
