It’s time again to consider deleting, revising, and creating special fees. As you review and consider special fees, AVCAA Wilson encourages you to be mindful of the real need to charge students and the accumulated effect of these fees on students.

Requests for changes, deletions or new course-associated special fees effective for the 2012-2013 academic year should be submitted electronically to the Office of the Senior Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs at academicaffairs@unl.edu by Monday, November 7, 2011. All requests require the approval of the department or unit chair and college dean prior to submission, but a supplementary memo from the dean is no longer required.

Go to http://go.unl.edu/specialfees to download the special fees request form and to access additional information, including details about the approval process and timeline, Board of Regents guidelines, and master list of all approved special fees. A request does not need to be submitted for already approved special fees, unless requesting a change or deletion. These processes apply to all courses, including distance education courses.

Special fees are approved at the April Board of Regents meeting and this approval does not imply that a fee will automatically be collected. Departments are responsible for working with Registration and Records for the identification of all special fees, including those that may be approved at the April meeting.
