Temple Grandin Open Discussion

hosted by SECD

Date:
Time:
10:00 am – 12:00 pm
East Campus Union Room: TBA
35th St and East Campus Loop
Lincoln NE 68583
Temple Grandin is Professor of Animal Sciences, at Colorado State University. She also happens to have been born with autism. SECD will host an open discussion for Temple to faculty, staff and students about her story of emerging from the life of a fear-gripped child to becoming a successful professional and a world leader in two very different fields, autism education and animal care.

She will describe in her own words what it is like to live with autism, to be among the few people who have broken through many of the neurological impairments associated with autism. Throughout her life she has developed unique coping mechanisms. Ultimately, it is Temple’s unique ability to describe the way her visual mind works and how she first made the connection between her impairment and animal temperament that is the basis of her extraordinary gift and phenomenal success. PLEASE INVITE YOUR STUDENTS TO COME - COME YOURSELF AS WELL - YOU WILL BE INSPIRED!!
