In a globalization era, what constitutes “global competencies” in education? What understandings and professional skills will nurture educators’ innovative growth and enhance student learning? Supported, in part, by a generous Humanities Nebraska grant, a cross-institutional professional development experience, “Teaching for Global Competencies: What are the Challenges and Opportunities?” will include UNL and Nebraska Wesleyan pre-service students, graduate students and Nebraska in-service educators. They will explore and deepen understanding of 21st century competencies, engage professional dialogue reinforcing theoretical, philosophical and practical professional development, and gain global education classroom resources. The workshop aims to reach a full range of educators; all grade levels and subject areas will find relevance. The workshop is free. A continental breakfast and lunch will be provided.
