The 2016 Interdisciplinary Retreat on Translational Science will support UNL researchers in building bridges from laboratories to communities. Join us for an opportunity to lead the conversation and launch future projects. The retreat includes:

— Panel discussions and a Q&A with nationally renowned scholars in translation science
— Collaborative sharing, brainstorming and networking with campus colleagues
— Tailored breakout sessions to support concept and action planning for future projects

Today’s most complex social issues require equally versatile solutions. The translational science process is designed to respond to critical needs with cross-cutting research that integrates basic and applied findings while transcending disciplinary boundaries.

According to the National Institutes of Health, “Translational research includes …the process of applying discoveries generated during research in the laboratory, and in preclinical studies, to the development of trials and studies in humans… [and] research aimed at enhancing the adoption of best practices in the community. Cost-effectiveness of prevention and treatment strategies is also an important part of translational science.”
