Kim Ruyter will be giving a presentation on the topic “Prairie Pines Environmental Education Center and Demonstration Farm Community Survey.”
Abstract: The School of Natural Resources manages Prairie Pines, a 145 acre property 4 miles northeast of East Campus. Plans are underway to develop Prairie Pines into an environmental education center and demonstration farm. A survey of residents within 2 miles of the property was conducted to assess attitudes including potential concerns and interests about developing the property for visitation. The survey gave local community stakeholders the opportunity to express their thoughts while providing planners with relevant insight for providing desired experiences and addressing concerns.
