Ted Wiggins is an idealistic 12-year-old boy who lives in Thneedville, a walled city that, aside from the human citizens, is completely artificial. Everything is made of plastic, metal, or synthetics, with no living plants. Ted has a crush on local environmentalist Audrey, who wants to see a real tree more than anything in the world, so he decides to find one in order to impress her. Ted searches for the one thing that will enable him to win the affection of the girl of his dreams. To find it, he must discover the story of the Lorax, the grumpy yet charming creature who fights to protect his world. This will be shown outdoors on the Nebraska Union Greenspace, in conjunction with Environmental Sustainability Committee’s Earthstock event. FREE FOR UNL STUDENTS AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. Complimentary refreshments will be provided. Attendees are encouraged to dress warmly, bring a blanket or chair to sit on, and their own cup to reduce waste at the event.
