Author C.J. Janovy will speak about her experiences writing “No Place Like Home: Lessons in Activism from LGBT Kansas” at a Paul A. Olson lecture at the Center for Great Plains Studies.
In the book, Janovy, an editor for public radio in Kansas City, MO, shares the diverse voices and experiences of LGBT community members living on the plains and working for social change. She won the Center’s 2019 Stubbendieck Great Plains Distinguished Book Prize, which includes a medallion that will be awarded to her during the lecture.
The Stubbendieck book prize celebrates the most outstanding work about the Great Plains during the previous year. This event is part of the Paul A. Olson Great Plains lecture series and is free and open to the public. Books will be available for purchase during the event.
