As part of National Poetry Month in April, the Academy of American Poets’ established National Poem In Your Pocket Day in 2002. This year the day falls on April 27th. The idea is simple: people are encouraged to choose a poem to carry in their pocket and share with others throughout the day. The Creative Writing Program invites and encourages everyone to participate… Students have shared poems with others in the student union, on buses, in convenience stores, at their jobs, in coffee houses, on street corners.
